Our Library Media Center is guided by policies and procedures that support access, safety, consistency, and a positive experience for every learner. These documents reflect our commitment to literacy, inclusion, intellectual freedom, and responsible stewardship of library resources. They provide a clear framework for how the library operates and how we ensure equitable, student-centered service for our school community.
ABMS Library
Policies and Procedures
This policy document outlines the framework that guides the Library Media Center and keeps our program aligned with professional standards and the needs of our school community. It reflects a commitment to inclusive access, intellectual freedom, and meaningful learning experiences, and it provides a clear foundation for a library program built on literacy, student voice, and future-ready skills.
Chromebook Care And Use Presentation
This Chromebook Care slide deck, shared with all ABMS students and families, teaches students the everyday habits that keep their devices safe, charged, and ready to use. The lessons focus on responsibility, safety, and respectful use of shared school resources. Students learn how to prevent damage, handle troubleshooting situations, and advocate for themselves when a device needs attention.
These expectations support a smooth learning environment and help students build the digital responsibility skills they need across all classes.
Chromebook Assistance Form
This form streamlines our Chromebook support process and helps students take responsibility for their learning tools. When a device isn’t working, students complete the form to describe the issue, share what they’ve already tried, and request assistance.
If their Chromebook is unusable, teachers provide access to an iPad so the form can still be completed without delaying instruction.
The information collected allows me to:
track trends in damage or recurring issues
reduce classroom interruptions
prioritize repairs
prepare loaners when necessary
maintain accurate records for fees, warranty info, or district reporting
REAL Chromebook Care: Expectations for Responsible Use
This poster introduces students to our REAL expectations for responsible Chromebook use — Respectful, Engaged, Accountable, and Leaders. I created this resource to help students understand that Chromebooks are learning tools and that digital habits directly support the safety, integrity, and success of our school community. These expectations are taught during library orientation, revisited with classes throughout the year, and reinforced through digital citizenship lessons aligned with the district AUP and Common Sense Education guidance.
