Student programs in our library are designed to help learners explore their interests, try new ideas, and connect with our school community in meaningful ways. Students might join a book club, jump into a design challenge, take on a leadership role, or participate in an extension activity. My goal is to create welcoming experiences that build curiosity, confidence, and a real sense of belonging.
Makerspace Monday gives students a chance to explore creativity through hands-on projects that build problem-solving, collaboration, and confidence. Each week offers something new to try, and every activity is designed to feel welcoming, accessible, and fun. Students can make, build, code, design, and discover what they enjoy most about learning through creation.
Battle of the Brains brings students together to think like scientists, designers, and creative problem solvers. Our team researches, sketches, builds, visits Science City for inspiration, and submits a full exhibit proposal that reflects their ideas and teamwork. This program highlights curiosity, collaboration, and the power of student-driven innovation.
Student Library Aides help keep our library and makerspace running smoothly. Learners who earn a spot take on real responsibilities such as shelving, organizing, supporting checkout, and preparing materials for makerspace activities. This program encourages leadership, independence, and pride in caring for our shared space.
Students help shape our library through bookmark design contests that feature their artwork, favorite book quotes, and creative ideas. Winning designs are printed and shared with the school, which gives students a sense of ownership and pride. These projects invite both readers and artists to express themselves in a fun and welcoming way.
Student voice is at the heart of our library program. Learners share their ideas through weekly polls, quick surveys, book requests, suggestion boxes, and choices that shape our displays and activities. These opportunities help students feel heard, valued, and connected to the direction of the library.
Our reading programs are designed to celebrate books and build community. Students can join a book club, participate in themed reading challenges, recommend titles for displays, or enjoy special literacy events throughout the year. These experiences make reading social, inviting, and enjoyable for every learner.
